Primo giorno
Day one Milan:
The trip has begun. Jen and I managed to meet with relative ease in Milan's international airport, which was fairly unimpressive I must add. The train to Milan central station was easy enough to find, and with some impressive Italian from Jen and €11 each, we were on our way.
Thirty minutes later we were at central facing our next challenge, finding the best route to our hostel. With some help from a friendly local, and some 20 minutes wasted trying to locate the right ticket machine, we were finally on route. We were able to find our hostel without taking a wrong turn, and were fairly impressed with the suburb given we were only paying €8 a night.
No adventure would be complete without a mishap, ours being that the room we were meant to be staying in had been destroyed the night before by a Dutch handball team. Given they were repainting the room as a result we were told that they had organised another place for us to stay for the same price. The Dutch boys must have had a good night!!
We were driven to our new hostel, which to be honest, was a bit nicer, but probably not in as good a location. After checking in, a quick shower and change of clothes we headed out with our new American mates (fellow refugees), for a walk to gather our bearings, and grab some dinner. It took us about half an hour to walk to central and close by we found a pizzeria, exactly what we felt like for dinner. Funny that.
A massive pizza each (€5.50), a beer for me and frizante for Jen, we were well fed. We headed straight back to the hostel on a bus, which by the way no one pays for, so neither did we. All in all, a long day of travelling so an early night followed.
Tomorrow we are to properly explore Milan.
