Venezia

Day 3:  An early start this morning as we head off to Venice. Our train leaving from Milan central at 7.25, we were well prepared for the trip with plenty of fruit, bread and cold meats for breakfast and lunch. We decided on catching the regional train which left an hour earlier but was half the price (€17). It takes 3 hours, compared to the 45 minute fast train but we were quite happy to relax on the train, giving us time to see the countryside and catch up on some blogging and reading.  We found our campsite pretty easily in the end, drop of our gear and head into Venice. 10 minutes by bus and we are there. We have a wonder round, get lost as you do and then eventually have some dinner in one of the many squares. Pizza was on the cards once again. A pretty quite evening in the end but lovely none the less.  Day 4: Today consisted of more getting lost in the maze that is Venice. We managed to find a supermarket (which there aren't many of in Italy let alone Venice) where we buy some lunch for the day. We headed for the closet thing to a park to enjoy our lunch and take in the view. From there we headed to the Peggy Guggenheim gallery to take in some the amazing connection and admire what would have  been a lovey place to live. With works of Picasso, Calder, and Pollock just to name a few, this has to be one of the best small modern art galleries in the world in terms of its collection, garden, and view. Jen and I were very happy to sit on the front balcony and watch the busy grand canal in full swing.  We began to make our way back round towards more of the action on the island and stumbled upon a bar that was setting up outdoor seating for the Italy vs. Spain Euros game. Well I could think of no better place to watch football with some other very passionate Italians and Jens new discovery, aperol spritz. With the game ending up one-all, most locals seemed satisfied with the result and a party atmosphere was kicking off. However by this stage we need dinner so off we popped. A cheap and cheerful in stall and back off to the campsite.
